Omaha Athletic Trainer Earns Back to Sports Mini-Grant Sponsored by NFL and American Heart Association

The American Heart Association (AHA; www.heart.org) and the National Football League (NFL) teamed up to launch the Back to Sports program designed to promote physical activity and safe sport participation.  It delivers credible information on key safety concerns including concussion awareness, heat and hydration, cardiac arrest and proper response, and the prevention of overuse injuries.  The Back to Sports program utilizes the expertise of Certified Athletic Trainers (ATs) to facilitate local meetings.

Omaha AT Danielle Kleber, ATC earned a mini-grant and hosted her first Back to Sports meeting for parents or guardians of children who are participating in or thinking about joining sports at any level on March 9th at Athletes’ Training Center’s Papillion facility.

Kleber has a wide variety of experience with youth sports and has been an AT for 19 years, including eight years as the head AT at Lincoln Northeast High School in Lincoln, NE.  Currently she oversees the sports performance division of Athletes’ Training Center and sees firsthand the implications of overuse injuries in youth sports.  You will also find Kleber on the sidelines for Ashland-Greenwood High School football and the Nebraska Youth Rugby Association.
