Madonna’s Omaha Campus Update: On Time for October Opening

Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital’s (www.madonna.org) Omaha Campus is more than 75 percent complete. The facility, located on 20.6 acres of land at 175th Plaza and Burke Streets, is expected to open in October.

The 110-bed hospital is state-of-the-art and provides patients—both adults and children—a full continuum of inpatient rehabilitation care. The 260,000 square foot building is divided into three major areas including an acute rehabilitation hospital, a rehabilitation specialty hospital and a children’s rehabilitation hospital. The facility also has a main therapy gym, a warm-water pool, a chapel and Independence Square—a simulated community for patients to practice daily independent living skills, such as driving, laundry and grocery shopping. The hospital also includes an expansion site for Madonna’s Rehabilitation Research Institute.

Designated employees will begin moving into the facility in late summer with an official open house and public dedication planned for this fall.

The Omaha Campus has been in the planning stages since 2012, when an independent study highlighted the underserved need for specialized rehabilitation in the Omaha area. Upon board approval, plans moved forward, which included the selection of architects, general contractors, city approval and the purchase of land west of Village Pointe. In September of 2014, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital broke ground on the project and began construction.
