Gallup, Creighton University Honored for Creating a Winning Culture of Wellness

UnitedHealthcare recently recognized Gallup (www.gallup.com) for implementing a successful workplace wellness program and Creighton University (www.creighton.edu) for its long-standing successful workplace wellness program.

Gallup and Creighton University were among the 10 companies across the United States presented with UnitedHealthcare’s “Well Deserved” award for wellness programs that produced a culture of better health in the workplace.

Gallup leadership supports a companywide “Life Well Lived” campaign that included five core wellness elements: purpose, social, financial, community and physical. Gallup’s game-based wellness program called “In The Zone” provided employees fun monthly challenges and interactive learning opportunities based on the company’s five elements of well-being. The program helps employees set goals, establish healthy habits and improve their quality of life. Locally, Gallup’s Omaha Riverfront campus offers a fitness center, healthy cafeteria options, treadmill and standing desks, a credit union and regular team and company social events, including a “Community Builders” volunteer program.

As a result of being a three-time Well Deserved award winner, Creighton earned a “Leadership Award,” which recognizes employers for sustained results in helping employees improve their health and well-being.

Nationally, Creighton University has been at the forefront of employee wellness initiatives, especially among employers in the field of education. Creighton has provided comprehensive, evidenced-based wellness resources for its employees and implemented creative benefits strategies based on the unique needs of its workforce. The university has effectively managed health care costs by developing a strong partnership with wellness vendor Healthbreak, Inc.

This is UnitedHealthcare’s ninth year of recognizing employers who demonstrate a commitment to improving their employees’ health and well-being through innovative wellness programs. UnitedHealthcare worked with an external broker review panel to review and judge all Well Deserved award applicants.
