Luke Mabie is pleased to announce he will open Culprit Café and Bakery in downtown Omaha at 1603 Farnam St.  Culprit Café and Bakery is young entrepreneur Luke Mabie’s first business venture, and Omaha’s latest addition to the encouraged revival of the downtown business district. The bakery, which specializes in artisan breads and espresso, will be located at the corner of 16th and Farnam streets. It will also feature breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads, traditional pastries, muffins and scones, with some vegetarian and vegan options.

Baguettes, sourdough and specialty loaves are hand-made and baked in Culprit’s hearth ovens. Mabie makes all of his own coffee syrups, and carries beans from Broadway Roasting Co. in Kansas City, Mo.

Mabie hopes the business will bring some vigor back to the historical 16th street.  He welcomes those from the surrounding downtown businesses, and invites people to stop in for a pastry and cup of coffee before work, a sandwich over the lunch hour, or a fresh loaf of bread to take home for dinner. The shop will be open Monday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. The expected opening time is mid-July.
