As Giving Tuesday recently reminded people to donate to their favorite charities during the holiday season, the Omaha Community Foundation wants everyone to mark their calendar for the metro area’s biggest day of giving. Omaha Gives! will be held on May 20, 2015. This will be the third year for Omaha Gives! and organizers are expecting another record setting year for the 24-hour online giving event.

In 2014, more than 18,000 people made nearly 36,000 donations during the charitable holiday. In total, Omaha Gives! raised over $6.3 million for 569 area nonprofits serving the metropolitan community. In year three, the Omaha Community Foundation is out to engage even more people in giving!

Nonprofits in Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties are eligible to participate in Omaha Gives!, and information sessions will be held in January with full details on how to sign up for this year’s event and updates on the bonus pool and prizes. For the most up-to-date information on Omaha Gives!, follow the Omaha Community Foundation on Facebook or Twitter.

Leading the way for Omaha Gives!, the Omaha Community Foundation has been helping individuals, families, and organizations facilitate their charitable giving since 1982.  For more information about Omaha Gives! or the Omaha Community Foundation, contact Kali Baker (kali@omahafoundation.org) at (402) 342-3458.
