SolutionOne was founded in 1937 when adding machines and manual type writers were all the rage in office technology. Motivated by a 72 year commitment to present the best possible customer experience and deliver world class service with knowledge and expertise, SolutionOne has created a successful consultative process designed to benefit clients. This process helps clients identify opportunities to automate and improve paper intensive business critical workflows, reduce and control operating budgets relative to the print space, while quantifying the savings and the impacts on the bottom line this additional efficiency can bring to a company. SolutionOne also sells and services document and content management software, multi-function equipment (MFP), network printers, & scanners. They specialize in helping companies assess their current situation and help them identify opportunities to help them make their people and processes more efficient through properly deployed middleware and hardware solutions, which can be difficult in today’s overwhelming business environment. John Kuchta, President and Owner, along with top executives Keith Snyder, CFO, Shane Piper, Vice President of Sales and Jeff Kaylor, Vice President of Service have continued to work towards the initial commitment made 72 years ago.
What do you think makes you different from other companies similar to yours?
While many companies place total emphasis on just selling equipment, SolutionOne places greater focus on taking care of our customers and ensuring their long-term satisfaction. With so many national companies offering more automated, less customer focused service, SolutionOne is proud to be one of the few remaining companies giving customers the benefits of local service, support and more importantly decision making capabilities.
What do you like about doing business in Omaha?
Omaha is a fast-moving, business-oriented progressive city. The people of Omaha understand that we are a great locally owned business that will deliver more customer focused solutions to their problems; we place a high value on responsiveness and expertise.
Do you have a business philosophy or mission statement?
“How Can I Be A Better Representative of SolutionOne For My Customer Tomorrow Than I Was Today?” This is a common phrase echoed throughout the inner workings of SolutionOne lead by President and Owner John Kuchta. The statement is posted throughout our company and has become an integral mission of our business. We’ve adopted a corporate value of pride in our business, our employees, and our clients.
What changes have you seen in the industry and your company in the past few years?
Typically, office equipment has been the decision of office managers and IT/IS staff. Companies are beginning to become aware of the huge financial impact the document has on expenses and how taking control of these documents, costs often unknown and untracked, can help them manage information as well as improve business procedures, having a positive impact on their clients and vendors. Companies are now looking for superior office suppliers, like SolutionOne, that are more focused on business processes than selling a commodity printer without the support package to go with it.
What has been your most important achievement as a business?
SolutionOne was the recipient of the 2009 Better Business Bureau Integrity Award. This award focuses on demonstrated ethical business practices with key stakeholders including customers, employees and community at large, rather than a company’s growth, profitability or popularity. The Integrity Award winners were chosen by an independent panel of business leaders and members of the academic community.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about your business that most people don’t know?
In the past year, our revenues have dropped less than 2%, our company has actually created four new positions, we enhanced our 401K employer match beyond that of the previous year, and we also paid bonuses to our employees through our annual “Stakeholder” program. This program allows the employees to get involved with every facet of our business, with the most emphasis on customer service quality metrics which we know our clients use to measure our relationship with. We feel these benchmarks, while operating in a difficult business climate, are something to be proud of.
